Software Systems Architects
Description:
You will perform system and subsystem definition, preliminary and detailed design, design implementation, and subsystem and system integration and tests for a system. You will also participate in software requirement review, preliminary and critical design, integration readiness review, and software acceptance review. You may act as technical lead for pre-proposal, proposal, and existing program efforts. Finally you will interact with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines and may provide technical guidance to lower level software engineers. You will analyze and study complex system requirements, design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analysis and manage their implementation. You will also support software development using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. You will estimate software development costs and schedule and review existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques. In addition you will supervise software configuration management, analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional areas such as payroll, logistics and contracts. You will develop block diagrams and logic flow charts and translate detailed design into computer software. You will also test, debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product. You will prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation as well as enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency and provide technical direction to programmers as required ensuring program deadlines are met. You will have the opportunity to develop cutting edge software solutions for the Defense Intelligence community. You will drive requirements, design and selection of an SOA architectural environment. You will also define an enterprise SOA blueprint which supports mission critical solutions for both enterprise and line of business requirements. You will be able to influence the application development teams to design and build quality solutions within the standard SOA architecture. Other Duties: Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Designs architecture to include the software, hardware and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. When appropriate, ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards - such as Institute of Electrical Electronic Engineer (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of Information Management (IM) solution of the application platform, across the application program interface (API), and the external environment/software application. Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of work flows, organization and planning and develops appropriate corrective action. Provide daily supervision and direction of staff. Position Requirements: Experience managing or performing software Systems Engineering activities including demonstrated experience with programming languages in the design and implementation of systems and using database management systems. Expert JAVA/J2EE programming experience. Strong architecture skills with an understanding and/or development experience in XML, SOAP, UDDI, J2EE, .Net, WS-security, web service management tools and OOP. Sound understanding of WS standards, security, governance and life-cycle experience with UML and enterprise architecture documentation tools. Experience with DODIIS & DCGS-IC technologies running on SIPRNet highly desired. Experience with open source search technologies including free text, keyword & Boolean. Demonstrated experience developing DODAF OV and SV artifacts. Experience building normalized relational & OO data models.. Understanding of DOD PKI systems. Experience defining capacity requirements & performing IT system performance analysis. Technical expertise in designing and implementing and executing enterprise integration & systems engineering practices.. Hands-on experience as a SOA architect. Experience in designing and blueprinting SOA solutions with both in-house developed and COTS applications. A proven track record of establishing a common SOA vision across multiple platforms and operating systems. Experience with JMS and message-oriented architecture patterns. Strong expertise in SOA based technologies provided by vendors to include Apache service frameworks. A proven ability to drive complex projects. Strong business process and requirements analysis skills. The ability to identify and react to business and IT trends. Creativity, flexibility and strong leadership skills.
